FibroCor.4U™ Cardiac Fibroblasts

FibroCor.4U® are human induced pluripotent stem cell (hiPSC)-derived cardiac fibroblasts with characteristic electrochemical function and morphology essential for 2D and 3D co-culture assays with Cor.4U® or vCor.4U® Cardiomyocytes. A FibroCor.4U® Cardiac Fibroblast Kit contains 1 vial of FibroCor.4UTM Cardiac Fibroblasts (2M cells/vial) and 1 bottle of Cor.4U® Complete Culture Medium (250 mL/bottle).

Cardiac fibroblasts account for the largest number of cells in the adult human heart and they are indispensible to maintain normal cardiac function in close interaction with cardiomyocytes. Providing extracellular matrix for mechanical and structural integrity and paracrine signaling are key properties of cardiac fibroblasts, which are altered under pathophysiological conditions and lead to cardiac remodeling. The involvement in cardiac pathology, such as reparative fibrosis of the infarcted heart, underline the potential of this underrated cell type for cardiovascular research and drug development. FibroCor.4U® Cardiac Fibroblasts are a pure cardiac fibroblast cell population which can form a syncytium with cardiomyocytes. FibroCor.4U® Cardiac Fibroblasts cause a twofold enhancement in contraction force of Cor.4U® Cardiomyocytes and a threefold enhancement in contraction force of vCor.4U® Ventricular Cardiomyocytes in 2D and 3D co-cultures.
