Parkinson’s disease (PD) is a neurodegenerative condition characterized by progressive shaking, stiffness, and difficulty with walking, balance, and coordination. Misfolding and aggregation of α-synuclein proteins is believed to drive neurodegeneration in PD.
hiPSC-derived neurons that recapitulate these typical pathological features provide an exciting system for PD modeling, which can be utilized for the investigation of disease pathogenesis and to provide specific and valuable readouts for drug discovery.
